Spiced apple cider with maple syrup

A warm treat for festive evenings
Fragrant and comforting. The sweet and velvety notes of maple syrup blend with the aroma of apples and the scent of winter spices: the result is a drink that tastes of home, of dim lights, and of people gathered around a table.
It's prepared in fifteen minutes, in a single saucepan, and served hot.

What is needed
Serves 4.
1 liter of apple cider
10 ml Pure Maple Syrup Amber
3 cinnamon sticks, plus 4 for garnish
5 cloves
4 star anise, plus 4 for decoration
1 tablespoon brandy
1 red apple
Five steps
In a casserole dish
Pour in the apple cider, add the maple syrup, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, and brandy.
On fire
Cook for 10 minutes, until almost boiling. The liquid should not boil.
Filter
Remove the spices and pour the cider into four mugs.
Garnish
A slice of apple, a star anise and a cinnamon stick per cup.
Serves
Hot, fresh out of the oven.
Two things to know
Don’t boil it. A gentle simmer is enough: just give the spices time to infuse the liquid with their aroma.
Alcohol-free. Remove the brandy and the recipe remains intact: apples, spices, and maple syrup. This way, anyone can drink it.
The ingredient
The variety used in this recipe. Amber, rich flavor: it can be tasted alongside the spices without overpowering them.
