What is needed
Serves 12 slices.
100g sliced bacon
80 ml of Pure Dark Maple Syrup
100g demerara sugar
Five steps
In baking dish
Lay the bacon on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, brush with maple syrup, and sprinkle with brown sugar.
Eight minutes
Bake at 200 °C in a preheated oven.
Turn
Flip the slices, brush again with syrup, sprinkle with sugar, and bake for another 8 minutes.
Repeat
A couple of times, until the slices reach your desired crispiness.
Cool down
Remove from the oven and immediately arrange the slices in a glass container. Serve with fried or scrambled eggs and crispy bread, or on pancakes with extra maple syrup.
Two things to know
Crispiness comes from cooling, not from the oven. Freshly baked slices are still soft; they firm up as they cool.
The container must be glass and without a lid. Condensation is the only thing that ruins the result.
The ingredient
The variety used in this recipe. Dark, robust flavor: it holds up during cooking and stands out in a dough.
