The diet of maple syrup

Maple syrup is often associated with the maple syrup diet, also known as the lemon diet and Master Cleanser: a food regimen widespread in the 70s that promised to lose weight very quickly, but in an unbalanced way.

Maple syrup is actually an excellent ally of fitness that It is well suited to a low-calorie diet.

Thanks to its effective purifying, diuretic and slimming action, maple syrup is the perfect ally for those who want to lose 2 or 3 pounds, eliminate the classic bacon or reduce the waist, without undergoing drastic diets harmful to health.

Maple syrup: ally of a healthy and balanced diet

Slimming is a process that can not be fast to be effective. Maple syrup can help you lose weight only in combination with a healthy, balanced diet and physical activity support.

It is a great sugar substitute, is more digestible and also relieves the feeling of swelling and fullness.
It has less calories (100 g provides about 270 kcal, or about 25% less kcal than white sugar that provides 390 kcal and even lower than 380 kcal of cane sugar) and has the lowest glycemic index (GI 54) of sugar and honey.
It is the third least caloric natural sweetener that exists, at once after stevia and molasses. Being a product obtained by a natural procedure, its use is to be preferred to that of artificial sweeteners such as aspartame, saccharin and sucralose, which can have negative effects on the body.

Research at the University of Rhode Island (USA) indicates that maple syrup can help control type 2 diabetes. The antidiabetic effect of maple syrup is mainly attributed to polyphenols and abscissic acid. Polyphenols inhibit the functioning of enzymes that convert complex carbohydrates into glucose. In contrast, abscissic acid stimulates insulin secretion in the pancreas, sensitizes adipocytes to insulin, and increases the use of glucose by muscle tissue, thus helping to maintain weight and also losing unnecessary kilograms.

Maple syrup stimulates diuresis and helps the disposal of excess liquids.
Thanks to the presence of potassium (200 mg per 100 g, 6% of the recommended daily dose), it stimulates diuresis, helps eliminate slag and toxins as well as swelling and crevice fluid accumulations. Maple syrup has the potential to be a valuable aid in combating water retention and cellulite.
To check the diuretic effects you just need to take a tablespoon of maple syrup every day, preferably in the morning on an empty stomach, to dissolve in a glass of water at room or warm temperature.

Maple syrup also works as an accelerator of metabolism: it facilitates thermogenesis so it helps the body to thicken fats faster, it is useful to energize and reactivate the circulation.
To prepare an excellent fat-burning drink you can combine the juice of half a lemon (or apple juice), a tablespoon of maple syrup and a pinch of cinnamon: you will get a fragrant and gently spicy drink, with which to accompany meals or drink as “break hunger” midway.

Maple syrup protects against hunger pangs and energy losses.

With a drop of maple syrup for breakfast, we can be sure that we won’t feel the need for sweets for a few hours.
The so-called “Canadian liquid gold” mainly provides zinc, magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, manganese and B vitamins (especially riboflavin).
If we are trying to lose weight, magnesium is especially important, as it increases the level of testosterone in the body that helps to burn fat faster and build muscle. Zinc has a very strong influence on metabolism. It is an important ally in weight loss and is an essential factor for a healthy thyroid. Calcium also plays an important role in maintaining proper body weight: intracellular calcium levels play a key role in regulating lipid metabolism. Adequate calcium intake reduces fat accumulation and stimulates lipolysis, leading to increased fatty acid burning. In addition gStudies show that about 80 g of maple syrup dissolves the daily requirement of manganese in 94.5% and riboflavin in 42%.
