Candian Butter Tarts with maple syrup

Ingredients

For the shells:

  • 200g of flour
  • 125g of sugar
  • 1 egg
  • a pinch of salt

For the filling:

  • Prepare the shortcrust pastry by placing flour and butter in the mixer and blend until it reaches the consistency of wet sand.
  • Add the egg and a pinch of salt, then knead until you obtain a smooth dough ball. Roll out the dough to a thickness of 4mm and, using a cookie cutter, cut out 8 discs.
  • Cover the 8cm diameter molds, previously buttered, and place them in the refrigerator until the filling is ready.
  • For the filling, mix the sugar with maple syrup, melted butter, egg, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt.
  • Preheat the oven to 190°C, fill the shells with a handful of dried fruit and the filling.
  • Bake for 15 minutes or until the shells are golden. Serve the tarts warm or cold.
